Aloha 'oe (Farewell to you), is what he said to her, feeling as though his heart was being ripped out of his chest. He knew he was in love with her from the moment they met. It was the only thing he could say to her as she left the island. He knew she was there on a vacation, but he couldn't help from falling in love with her. He tried denying it to himself.
